A best way to correctly mount your Bearings.
The bearings
are designed for a long service life, so they must last longer than the life of
the machine on which they operate. Why does this rarely happen? Bearings are an
integral part of many equipment, but when they arise, they are often the main
cause of problems. There are many reasons for a bearing failure, but one of the
most common is the way it is installed for the first time. Following this guide
will ensure that the bearings are always correctly mounted, which will prolong
the life of the bearings and the machine.
Pre-Mounting:- Before assembly, it is necessary to
understand and comply with the way of properly storing and handling the
bearings. The environment around the stored bearings must be clean and fresh,
free of moisture, dust and vibration. As always, cleanliness is very important.
Check the bearings and work area for spots. In addition, you must prepare the
tool and be absolutely sure of the safety procedure.
Cold Mounting:- Cold or mechanical assembly is one of the
basic ways to mount the bearings correctly. This method is generally used for
small and medium bearings (up to 4 inches in external diameter) and requires
the use of adjusting tools. Do not be tempted to use hammers and pipes for
work. It only causes unnecessary damage. The adjustment tool ensures that the
correct amount of force is applied to both bearing rings and that the rolling
elements are protected against impacts. Always have the right tools and make
sure they are the right size.
Hot Mounting:- Hot mounting allows the bearings to heat up
for easy extension and sliding in place. This is a widely used option for
mounting bearings, but if it is not carried out with the right technology, this
method can be damaged and potentially dangerous. The best way to heat the
bearings is to use an induction heater. By heating the bearings before
installation, the induction provides better control, efficiency and safety
compared to less effective methods such as flames, hot oil, hot plates or
ovens.
Hydraulic Mounting:- For very large bearings, hydraulic
mounting is the most effective method. Hydraulic assembly generally requires
the help of oil filling, as well as hydraulic pumps and gauges. There are
several oil injectors, hydraulic nuts and pumps. Some are specially designed
for unique types
of bearings. However, it has been shown that this method is very successful
in mitigating the installation process and minimizing potential damage.
